1. Add room temperature water
2. Cut the hydrangeas stems to the desired length
3. Cut the stems on an angle and cut up the stem (they can soak up more water)
4. Dip stems in the Alum to coat it, then arrange as usual
5. Change water every two days and give stems a new cut
